Artist: Claes Oldenburg

Dropped cone - Claes Oldenburg (2001)

"I am for art that takes its forms from life, that twists and extends impossibly and accumulates and spits and drips, and is sweet and stupid as life itself. "
Claes Oldenburg

60s. With the economic boom thousands of new items and food products invaded the homes of citizens. Seduced by the billboards and TV spots will come to consider essential items which do not really need.
E 'in this climate of unbridled consumerism that develops the phenomenon of Pop Art, including Claes Oldenburg ( 1929) is one of the leading exponents. Believing that art must become dirty with life - with all that is considered low-level people - creates installations drawing with irony to the world of everyday goods, from ice cream cone cake, matches from the clamp.
These operations are of great visual impact, mainly in size. The magnification of scale allows a new approach: the public, accustomed to seeing these objects and then almost always addicted, attention is induced to lend again.
